Safeguarding & trust

Technology can support.
People must decide.

Safeguarding and human oversight sit at the centre of Restora's proposed design. The platform is intended to gather information and help staff respond — not make disciplinary or safeguarding decisions.

Safeguards are design requirements, not yet independently verified
Our design principles

Safe by design. Accountable in practice.

Any school deployment would need agreed safeguarding workflows, testing and appropriate data-protection documentation.

♡

Concerns reach adults

The intended system highlights possible safeguarding disclosures or wellbeing concerns for review by designated school staff through defined escalation routes.

✓

Human judgement remains

AI may draft summaries or suggest follow-up questions. Authorised staff review the information, check accuracy and make every consequential decision.

♙

Age-appropriate interactions

Structured conversations, accessible wording, clear notices and boundaries are planned to support children in supervised school settings.

Data protection

Clarity about what is collected — and who can see it.

Restora is intended to work with school-controlled permissions, appropriate retention periods and documented handling of students' information. Use with identifiable pupils would require a school DPIA and agreed processor arrangements, as applicable.

Proposed safeguarding workflow

1

Student response

Guided, supervised interaction.

2

Potential concern

System flags relevant language for review.

3

Staff notification

Alert routed to configured staff.

4

Professional response

Staff assess and act under policy.

Important: Restora's proposed AI outputs must not be used as independent findings of fact, automated safeguarding judgments or automatic sanctions. School policies, staff review, data minimisation and appropriate testing remain essential.

Safeguarding is a conversation, not a checkbox.

We welcome input from safeguarding leaders and DPOs as the pilot framework develops.
